This was the final concert that John Denver performed in Australia. It was recorded for release on 12″ Video disc with the B side being a Karaoke version minus John’s vocals.
I mixed this concert, which was recorded on 3 x Sony PCM-800 Digital Audio Recorders linked together as a 24 track, in the audio facilities at ABC TV, Gore Hill, Sydney, Australia on 22nd December 1994.
John came in to the studio a week earlier and recorded two short overdubs, one vocal and one guitar as replacement tracks for two songs but the rest of the sound is mixed from the 24 tracks as recorded on the night.

I miss John more every day as my musical and life journey progresses. John most probably made more of an impact in my life than any other artist or poet ever. John helped me, and still does, through the most tumultuous and happiest experiences in my 63 year old life. If you would please excuse my most humble attempts at expressing this in his incredible art I have an original environmental song I wrote at the age of 15 years of age for him, my late father John Martens, my older brother Chris Martens and every other environmentalist making a difference. Our lives after decades of research and growing respect, love and gratitude for him and his gift to us all. It is a song called Ezulwini which means Paradise in the amaZulu language and refers to the priceless UNESCO World Heritage Site known as isiMangaliso Wetland Park and it’s adjoining territories of Zululand and Tongaland where the rich biodiversity environment was and still is threatened by human impact. Please forgive my humble attempt at acknowledging their courageous efforts to save these irreplaceable biomes globally.
